2021-22 WIAA Award of Excellence Award Recipients Announced

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association salutes the 39 schools that fulfilled criteria to be named recipients of the Award of Excellence in 2021-22.

Jewelry Addressed in NFHS Softball Rules Changes for 2023

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NFHS Softball Rules Committee has approved the wearing of jewelry in the sport, effective with the 2023 season. Previously, only medical and religious medals were permitted.

Gralla Receives National Recognition for Service to WIAA Membership

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Joan Gralla, a former member of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association office staff, and 14 other leaders in high school activity programs across the country received National Federation of State High School Associations Citations on June 30 at the annual NFHS Summer Meeting.

Melissa Gehring to Join WIAA Executive Staff

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association announced the hiring of Melissa Gehring as an assistant director for the association today. She will assume her role at the organization’s headquarters in Stevens Point on Aug. 1, 2022.

Board of Control Approves Winter Sports Changes at June Meeting

June Jam Targets Division 1 Boys Basketball Recruiting Issues

Every so often opportunities are presented to the Association that cause reason to reflect, review and contemplate on how it fits within the framework and purpose of education-based athletics. One such opportunity is a new event the WIAA will be offering for boys basketball programs at member schools to participate in this summer. The “June Jam” is scheduled on the weekend of June 24-26 at the Community First Champion Center in Appleton.
