The Madison Memorial boys swimming team won their third straight and 13th overall state title with a total score of 316 points. This ties them with Madison West for the second most team titles, two behind Waukesha's fifteen. Madison West was second in the team competition making this the first time in 20 years that Madison Memorial and Madison West placed first and second in the team competition.

Madison Memorial was led by seniors Nick Menninga and Jeremy Temprano. Menninga won the 50 freestyle in a time of 20.81 and won the 100 freestyle in a time of 46.47. He also anchored Memorial's two winning freestyle relays, the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 19.95, and the state record setting 400 freestyle relay in a time of 45.09. Temprano won the 200 individual medley in a time of 1:50.38 and placed fourth in the 100 backstroke in a time of 51.32. He also led off the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 46.54 which would have placed second in the 100 freestyle individual event. Finally, he was the first Memorial swimmer in the pool today, leading off the winning 200 medley relay.

Alex DeLakis of Eau Claire Memorial/North had perhaps the most impressive swim of the day in the 100 breaststroke. His winning time of 54.56 marked the fourth consecutive time he won that event making him only the third swimmer in history to achieve that feat. His time was also a state record, eclipsing the time of Madison Memorial's Chris Wood of 55.87 from 1995.

Madison West was led by junior Andrew Lindstrom who placed second in the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:40.72 and fifth in the 200 individual medley in a time of 1:54.88. He also anchored West's two freestyle relays. The 200 freestyle relay placed second and the 400 freestyle relay placed fourth, clinching second place in the team standings.

In addition to the 100 breaststroke and the 400 freestyle relay there were two other state records set today. Andrew Suchla of Racine Park set the diving state record with a final score of 563.45. Nicholas Petersen of Homestead set the state record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.34. His time broke the 2003 record of Nicolet swimmer Garrett Weber-Gale.
